Challenging Simon Sinek

This morning I saw a notification on LinkedIn that I had a new post to read from Simon Sinek, one of my favorite authors and speakers.  My first thought was YAY!!! I have a new post from Simon Sinek!

5.2 seconds later steam was coming out my earballs and my head had exploded much like the doodle character on my website.

Whoa!

❤️‍🔥 HOLY RAGE ‍🔥❤️

This was the post: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐭.

Clearly, I do not agree. If you fear change you are not selfish. If you fear change, if you have a phobia about change, if you can’t embrace change, there is a deeper issue going on.

You may have had an experience in the past that you or your brain labelled as change and the result sucked, was less than ideal, traumatic or a catastrophe.

When you have enough of those experiences, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞!

Definition of selfless: concerned more with the needs and wishes of others than with one’s own; unselfish.

Again, I disagree. It even seems a bit egotistical or self-righteous to believe yourself to be selfless simply because you are not afraid of change.
